Lexus has partially upgraded the compact SUV "UX" and will release the HEV model "UX300h" around early January 2024, followed by the BEV model "UX300e" around late January.

In this partial upgrade of the Lexus UX, the development theme is "peace of mind and spaciousness," with a focus on upgrading driving performance and advanced equipment.

The Lexus UX debuted in 2018 as a successor to the CT200h compact SUV and underwent a minor change in July 2022. In this partial upgrade of the Lexus UX, the lineup has been reorganized, with the production of the pure gasoline car UX200, equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine, being discontinued. For the hybrid car UX250h, the 2.0-liter inline-four hybrid system has been revamped to the next-generation type, increasing the system output from 135kW (184 horsepower) to 146kW (199 horsepower), and the car name has been changed to "UX300h." In 4WD vehicles, the output of the rear motor has been increased from 5kW (7 horsepower) to 30kW (41 horsepower).

In the Lexus UX300e, by installing a drive battery cooler/heater, adjustments have been made to ensure that the battery does not reach its upper temperature limit even with repeated driving and rapid charging, allowing for faster full charging even in winter when the outside temperature drops. In addition, by adopting a high-output, high-efficiency charging system, the rapid charging time has been reduced by approximately 25%, making it more user-friendly.

In the common driving improvements of the Lexus UX, drive feel has been enhanced by adding a radiator support brace and adding gussets to the lower back panel, while pursuing steering stability and luxurious ride comfort. In addition, by properly placing body damping materials and sound insulation materials, road noise and other noises have been reduced, improving quietness.

In the interior of the Lexus UX, a 12.3-inch large full LCD meter has been newly adopted. The shift lever introduces an electro-shiftmatic that electrically controls the shift position. Moreover, metallic colors have been adopted for the center console panel and shift panel to create a sense of luxury and sophistication. In terms of usability, an accessory socket (AC100V・1500W) with an emergency power supply system has been newly set up in the car.

In terms of safety features for both the Lexus UX300e and UX300h models, the latest Lexus Safety System + has been updated. Pre-collision safety (PCS) has been expanded to detect daytime motorcyclists and nighttime cyclists. In addition, a new intersection collision avoidance support function has been added. This system assists in avoiding collisions with vehicles and motorcycles at intersections.

Why not go for a drive with the electric-focused Lexus UX?
