Mitsubishi Motors has commenced domestic sales of its new pickup truck model, the TRITON, starting February 15th. With its roots tracing back to the Forte released in 1978, the TRITON has been produced over five generations, totaling approximately 5.7 million units over 45 years. It has been sold in approximately 150 countries worldwide. Its introduction to the Japanese market comes after a hiatus of 12 years, with a lineup consisting only of double-cab 4WD variants.

The 6th generation TRITON, developed under the product concept of "Power for Adventure," has been completely revamped from its interior and exterior design to chassis, ladder frame, and engine, becoming a robust and environmentally efficient new-generation pickup truck. Additionally, the new TRITON realizes excellent durability, ruggedness, and off-road capability and ensures the comfort and ride quality desired for private use.

The exterior of the new TRITON adopts a powerful and robust design with a commanding presence. Mainly, the front face incorporates the latest "Dynamic Shield" design, which combines protectors, creating a strongly protruding design. Furthermore, while composed of expansive surfaces, the horizontally oriented body side emphasizes stability and robustness with sharply protruding fender shapes.

Regarding the interior of the new TRITON, it adopts an instrument panel with a strong, horizontally oriented, and quickly grasped form, recognizing changes in the vehicle's posture during driving. Soft padding has been strategically placed to protect occupants, targeting professional use. Additionally, the front seats provide firm support around the waist and have a spacious and open shape around the shoulders, ensuring a comfortable and upright seating position with excellent visibility from the cabin. Moreover, by employing wide door openings and non-slip side steps, facilitated ingress and egress are achieved.

For its power unit, the new TRITON adopts the newly developed 4N16-type 2439cc inline 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve common-rail direct-injection turbo diesel engine. It utilizes a two-stage turbo system that coordinates two turbines according to rotational speed and load, delivering high output throughout the entire range, with a maximum output of 204ps at 3500rpm and a maximum torque of 47.9kg·m at 1500-2750rpm. An improved 6-speed sports mode automatic transmission is also employed. Furthermore, it achieves high driving performance through newly developed suspension and seven drive modes.

In terms of grade composition, it consists of the basic "GLS" and the advanced "GSR," which comes standard with front under garnish, fender arch moldings, bed liner, and styling bar.

Why not go outdoors with the powerful and robust design of the new TRITON?
